Story

Lydia and Marilyn have been friends and colleagues for quite some time. They've both worked in various Salons over the Years and have always dreamed about opening a Salon together. "Our goal was to create a beautiful environment that we'd be proud to work in, but more importantly, one that people would also feel welcomed and comfortable coming to". Now they are beyond excited to have done just that, and excited to welcome you to Amberwood Beauty Lounge. With over 30 years of experience between both of them, they will always ensure that their guests feel their best and receive the greatest possible experience.

Hello, my name is Lydia

Co-Owner/Licensed Stylist + Blonding Specialist

With over a decade of experience in the beauty industry, Lydia pours her heart and soul into her craft. Lydia has established herself as a successful Stylist, an educator and a Salon owner.

From a young age Lydia has always had an artistic and creative side. With a passion for the arts, she discovered she also had a flare for hair. She decided to pursue her passion in the beauty industry, attending Algonquin College in the hair styling program. Upon graduating, she developed her career in the salon industry. While working behind the chair, she continued her education by attending precision cutting, colour, balayage, as well as bridal and updo courses. She holds a certification in three different colour lines and is certified with extensive product knowledge in the Moroccanoil collection. While her career as a stylist was taking off, she felt she needed to do more and decided to take on an educator role at Algonquin College, having come full circle within her journey. Lydia's ambition, positivity and work ethic enabled her to take her career one step further and open Hairapy by Lydia in the early portion of 2020.

Today, she credits her experience and knowledge as the key to her success. Always keeping up with the latest trends, she never stops her commitment to learning.

Lydia truly enjoys her time with her clients, showing consideration by listening & sharing in the ups and downs, doing her best to uplift; she truly embraces every encounter. From haircuts to Balayage, Lydia will make sure you leave her chair feeling confident and looking beautiful. After all, we could all use a bit of Hairapy.

Marilyn has been in The Stittsville/Kanata area serving in the beauty industry for the last 20 years. It has always been a dream of hers to own a salon. Together with her good friend Lydia, they were able to turn her dream into a reality. She is now co-owner of the Amberwood beauty lounge. Marilyn loves all aspects of hairstyling; the experience of meeting new people, the conversations, as well as creating a hair style that perfectly suits each and every client. She keeps her education up-to-date learning new trends and styles. Marilyn is here to empower and educate her clients to make the proper beauty choices. Her true passion is making all your hair & beauty dreams come true.
